NEOMED Learning Center
Explore the streamlined workflow designed to enhance the submission and feedback processes of the NEOMED Writing Center. This project was developed as part of my Spring '23 Internship Experience
Writing Center Workflow
Through my internship, I designed a workflow process to enhance the submission, feedback, and assessment processes of the Writing Center. This project focused on improving process efficiency, student accessibility, open communication channels, and data collection.
Process Efficiency
Prior to this project, all Writing Center interactions were handled via email. A new workflow was needed to assist in managing large volumes of submissions, and enhancing the student experience of the Writing Center Services.
Student Accessibility
After implementing an entirely new portal for submissions, we needed to ensure students found the submission process accessible, beneficial, and overall easier to use than the prior system of emails.
Communication Channels
To support multiple iterations of feedback within the same interaction, a clear communication channel was needed between the Writing Center and students.
Data Collection
The new workflow was able to support an immensely larger volume of student interactions, however, we needed to be able to efficiently document, collect, and report the data of these interactions.
Workflow Assessment
In addition to implementing the new workflow process, I also completed a full Assessment Plan for the Writing Center services. This plan was completed in conjunction with the Assessment and Accreditation in Higher Education course through Kent State.
